The China Gate

The China Gate was the largest entrance in the ancient walled city of Nanjing. Long ago, people from far and wide passed this way as they entered the “Southern Capital”. When they did, they no doubt shared their ideas and information with those they met within. The China Gate remains today. No matter how you came to be here, you are welcome to pass through and to share what you’ve seen and learned.

About Me

Matt
Arriving in Nanjing in August of 2005, I thought that it might be interesting to record and share some of my impressions of life in both the city and the country. As an American with limited knowledge of China and no language skills to speak of, what I have to present should be looked at with this in mind. With that being said, I hope to inform and possibly to entertain those who are kind enough to visit. As inexpert as I am, I think that this may still be possible. I plan to post entries whenever I have something worth submitting. Hopefully, this will occur with some frequency. Whether or not they receive any comments, I don’t know. I would like them to. As the main introduction says, all are welcome. If you do decide to respond to something that I’ve posted, you can either comment or send me an e-mail. Either way, I’ll try to get back to you as quickly as I can. Aside from that, I hope that you enjoy passing through The China Gate.
